Sunset Lane Bore Scheduled to Begin Immediately

Due to a schedule change the Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District’s (District), Contractor, Strider Construction Co., Inc. (Contractor) has begun preliminary construction of the Lift Station 4 to 12 Bore Project. The Contractor is on site performing potholing to locate existing utilities and minor work prior to the actual bore. The bore is scheduled to begin May 1st. This project will install a new sewer main from the existing Lift Station 4 on Sunset Lane to the existing gravity sewer system on Surrey Lane. Once the bore is complete, removal of the mechanical function of Lift Station 4 will take place and the residences on Sunset Lane will have sewer service by gravity to Lift Station 12 on Surrey Lane. We anticipate the Construction to take approximately three to five weeks, as it is weather dependent.

The construction operations for this project will affect traffic in/along Sunset Lane and Surrey Lane.  The majority of the new pipe is being installed by Directional Bore; the boring machine will be located in the East bound lane/side of Sunset Lane.  The Contractor will fuse the pipe together on Surrey Lane and then pull it through the bore to Sunset Lane. There will be open trenches on Sunset Lane and a side road off Surrey Lane only. Traffic lanes may temporarily be closed during construction with flaggers helping to direct traffic around the work zones. The Contractor will attempt to maintain access at all times. There may be temporary/short term loss of parking as equipment is used and pipe/materials are stored along the streets. Customers will continue to have uninterrupted sanitary sewer service during the project.
